Ginny Bourne

I used to have 3 brothers. Now I have two brothers and a sister called Ginny.
Yes my 2nd oldest brother is a transexual. (I don't like the fact I have
to label her. She is still human. There must be a better way to put it but
I will let it stand for now).
This is very interesting to me as he was the brother that seemed to have the
most Male attitude to woman and life. He was in the RAF and worked as a
Mechanic. He used to be a Biker and a real party animal from what I know from
his mates. As time has progressed the complications of denying who he really
was got him down to the point considering ending his life. He took therapy
sessions and then a during 1998 (I think) came out as being Bi-Sexual.
I thought how interesting. I had just been really a book by a Transsexual called
Julie Grant whose operation had been shown in a TV series and I remembered the
book had some Homosexual encounters in it. I thought my brother might like to
read these so I lent him the book. I was a little surprised one day when I got
a phone call from Mike saying he could not make the number for the Gender Trust
work. (He had forgotten that 0xxx numbers in the UK had became 01xxx number
a few years back). I didn't like to ask why he wanted to phone it. I just
mentally raised an eyebrow and decided to see what happened.
A few months later Mike had decided that he was in fact a she. This is fine
with our family. It causes some confusion because we don't remember to say
She all the time. It is also very confusing when the phone rings you hear the
voice and habit tells you it is Mike on the phone but it isn't it is Ginny.
Also are you supposed to refer to Mike's childhood in male terms i.e. Mike or
he or do you convert everything to she and Ginny. Mum pretty much decided Mike
was Mike and now Ginny is Ginny. Ginny disagrees but I think I prefer mum's
way for now. It sometimes upsets my mum that she has lost Mike. But it is not
because she doesn't like Ginny. She fully accepts Ginny but she sometimes wants
her son too. It is like he has died and she sometimes gets upset about that.
If you have any questions about transsexuals feel free to e-mail me. I will
try my best to answer or point you in the right direction.
